CRM: What is a Target

Learn how Targets work in Unificus and where you'll encounter them throughout the platform.

What is a Target?

A Target represents the intended recipient of your business objective. This could be a company, primary contact, individual contact, or team member within your Unificus workspace.

Where do Targets appear in Unificus?

The concept of Targets applies across many areas of the platform. Here’s how they function in different features:

Custom Fields

Custom Fields let you capture data in specific sections of Unificus. Create them via Flyout > Content Settings > Manage Custom Fields.

Each Custom Field has a usage designation that determines where it appears. For example, a Contact-specific Custom Field displays only in Contact Profiles, not Company Profiles, and vice versa.

To work around this limitation, you can create Target Custom Fields, which appear in both Company and Contact Profiles. This allows data entry regardless of profile type.

Forms

Forms supporting CRM Custom Field data can also include Target Fields. These include Kickoff, Checkout, Booking, and Support Forms.

This ensures that when either a Company or Contact submits the form, the Target Field information reaches the appropriate CRM Profile.

Update Forms

Update Forms work with both staff members and CRM Targets. You can adjust the Usage Type when building the form to include the relevant fields for each.

Automation and Auto-Templates

Some automations reference the Target—typically your Prospect or Client who is the recipient of the automation. When setting up automations aimed at Companies or Contacts, you’re designating them as the Target.

Schedules

Schedules bundle automations with specific timing and sequence. You can create Schedules for both CRM Targets and Staff Targets. Select the appropriate Target type while configuring your schedule.

Documents and Document Generators

Documents can be created for CRM Targets and Staff/Team Targets. Choose your Target type before generating Documents or Document Generators.
