Creating Friendly URLs
Learn how to create custom, readable URLs for your Unificus portal resources.
What is a Friendly URL?
A Friendly URL represents the portion of a web address that follows your domain, displayed in a way that’s easy for people to understand and share. This approach simplifies access to your content and presents a more polished appearance when distributing links.
Consider sharing a link to your Kickoff Form. Without customization, the system assigns each Form a Form ID containing random characters such as “S6o43617tuJibaz”. This identifier appears directly in your URL.
You can enhance the appearance by assigning a Friendly URL like “registration”. This transforms your link from:
https://clients.deepfocuslabs.com/frm/S6o43617tuJibaz
Into:
https://clients.deepfocuslabs.com/frm/registration

How do I create a Friendly URL?
IMPORTANT: The “Manage Friendly URL” option appears in the Flyout Menu only after you’ve set up your Custom URL & Login.

Begin by accessing Flyout Menu > Friendly URL’s.
Select the +Create Friendly URL button.
A form will appear requiring you to complete these fields:
Name: An identifier for your records when browsing your Friendly URLs list.
Slug: The text component that displays in your URL. Currently, only letters, numbers, and hyphens are permitted.
Alt Url: The original web address you wish to shorten. You may input the complete URL or use just the relative portion.
Using a Portal Page as an example:
First, Impersonate a Client and go to your target Portal Page.
Select and copy the URL displayed in your browser’s address bar.
Return to the Admin interface, go to Flyout Menu > Friendly URL’s, and click +Create Friendly URL.
Insert the copied URL into the Alt URL field. Enter your chosen Friendly URL text and provide a Name for organizational purposes.
To save the new link to your clipboard, click the Friendly URL entry under Source.
When you share this URL, your new Friendly URL takes effect!
TIP: When this link is used outside the platform by someone not already authenticated, they’ll be asked to sign in first. After login, they’ll be directed automatically to the destination.
How do I create a Friendly URL for a Form?
During Form creation, you can assign a Friendly URL directly. This capability works with any Form type.
Go to Forms. Select whether you’re setting up a new Form or modifying an existing one.
With your Form open, select the Link / Embed option at the top.
Within the Direct Linking Options area, type your preferred Friendly URL into the Alias field.
After clicking Update URL Alias, the system generates your new Alias URL automatically.
Your new Friendly URL will automatically populate in Flyout Menu > Friendly URLs.
Managing your Friendly URLs
You can update or remove Friendly URLs anytime by going to Flyout Menu > Friendly URLs and selecting the Options menu.
Edit: Modify any field values as needed. For Kickoff Forms, you can only change the Name and Friendly URL fields.
Delete: Remove the Friendly URL from your system. This action only deletes the shortened URL itself, not the underlying resource it points to.
