MARKETING: Creating Audiences
Learn how to build recipient lists for email campaigns in Unificus through multiple methods.
What is an Audience?
An Audience is a list of contact names and email addresses that will receive your Email Campaigns. You have several ways to populate an Audience:
- Add contacts one by one manually
- Import from an external CRM system or CSV file
- Enable automatic additions through automation rules or self-subscription options

How do I create an Audience?
Initial Setup
Go to Marketing > Audiences and select the +Add New Audience button.
Enter a Name for your Audience. This label is only for your internal use—recipients won’t see it.
After creating your Audience, open the Options menu (three dots) and choose View.
You’ll now see your Audience overview, which includes a line graph showing your subscriber count over the past year. Use the Selected Year dropdown to view data from different years.
To update your Audience name, use the Edit button in the top right corner. The navigation bar at the top provides several options for adding subscribers.

Create a Circle
When you set up a Circle, you’ll find a checkbox labeled Create & Sync an Associated Marketing Audience.
Selecting this option automatically generates an Audience. Any contacts you add or remove from the Circle will instantly sync with the Marketing Audience. If you deactivate the Circle, the associated Marketing Audience will be removed as well.
Note: Once linked to a Circle, the Audience won’t support standard manual subscriber management. All subscriber changes happen automatically through the Circle. If someone unsubscribes from the Audience, they remain in the Circle but won’t receive campaign messages.
Add Subscribers Form
Use this form to manually enter subscriber information through a text field. Select either Name & Email or Only Email from the dropdown, then enter the data accordingly. Place each subscriber on a separate line. For Name & Email entries, use a comma to separate the two fields.
CSV Import
Bulk-import subscribers by uploading a CSV file created in Google Sheets, OpenOffice, or another spreadsheet application. Format your file to match your import method:

Import from CRM
Add existing platform contacts directly to your Audience. This option displays a table of all your current contacts. Use checkboxes to select which ones to import, and a dropdown menu to choose whether you’re importing selected contacts or all of them.
Import Staff
You can include Staff Members in your Audiences as well. A similar selection screen appears where you can use checkboxes to choose which staff members to add.
Export All Subscribers
This feature downloads a CSV file with all current subscribers from your Audience, formatted for easy re-import into another Audience if needed.
Drip Sequence
A Drip Sequence sends multiple campaign messages automatically to new subscribers according to a set schedule. Access the Drip Sequence dashboard to manage or create a sequence by clicking the +Drip Sequence button.
How do I unsubscribe a user from an Audience?
To manage Audience subscribers, go to Marketing > Audiences and select the Audience you want to modify. Open the Options menu (three dots) to either Unsubscribe a person from the Audience or Delete them entirely.
