Understanding Passwordless Login with Magic Link
Magic Link provides a streamlined authentication method that eliminates the need for traditional password entry when accessing Unificus.
This feature works well for users who struggle with password management or prefer simplified access procedures. All user types—staff members and contacts alike—can take advantage of Magic Link authentication.
⚠️ Important Security Notice: Activating this feature means you accept that HIPAA compliance may not be maintained. If you work with legally-protected sensitive data, do not enable this option.
Enabling Magic Link Authentication
Start by opening the Flyout Menu and selecting Custom URL & Login.
In the Magic Login section, switch the toggle to the ON position.
After activation, additional configuration options become available:
Custom Icon Option: Upload your own icon instead of the default magic wand symbol. Square images measuring 35×35 pixels work best. SVG formats are supported.
Click Limit: Determine how many times a Magic Link can be used. Choose between 1–5 clicks, or leave blank for the default (1 click). Fewer clicks = stronger security.
Expiration Window: Set how long the link remains active, from 1–24 hours, or leave blank for the default (1 hour). Shorter timeframes increase security.
💡 Tip: Higher values in these settings improve user convenience but reduce security. Balance these factors based on your organization’s needs.
How Magic Link Login Works
Once enabled, users see a Magic Link option on your custom login page.
Clicking the link prompts users to provide their email address.
A login email arrives immediately in their inbox.
Selecting the email button grants instant access to their Unificus account.
